A Study for the Effect of the Child Counselor`s Type A/B and Perfectionism on Countertransference Management Ability

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of child counselor¡¯s on type A/B and Perfectionism on countertransference management ability. The subjects of this study consist of 180 counselors who are doing counseling with children with children under 18 years of age. The collected data were analyzed by frequency analysis and multi-regression analysis. These analyses showed that child counselor¡¯s type A/B and Perfectionism affected the counter-transference management ability. When the child counselor has type B, extent of self-integration and anxiety management is higher. In the case of A child counselor, the degree of anxiety management is lower. When the child counselor has perfectionism tendency, the degree of sub-factors of countertransference management ability is higher. When the child counselor has a negative view on perfectionism, however, the degree of self-integration, anxiety management and conceptualizing skills is lower.
